LUXURY AWAITS

Exclusive Escapes specialises in small, family-owned hotels and chic villas with pools throughout the Lycian Coast, operating in stylish locations, including the archetypal Mediterranean harbour towns on Kalkan and Kas, and villages along Bozburun Peninsula.

Its ethos is to go that extra mile to make sure families enjoy a hassle-free and indulgent holiday, and children always receive a warm welcome. There are a number of organised activities throughout the school holidays, from farm visits to picnics and barbecues.

A TRIP TAILORED JUST FOR YOU

Your hassle-free break starts with civilised Saturday flights from the private terminal at Stansted, or with BA from Heathrow, or from Manchester with Monarch, departing at a sensible hour while maximising the time spent in coastal Turkey before returning home. Exclusive Escapes’ experienced team can plan a holiday that suits both your family’s style and your budget

Further afield, there are city breaks to Istanbul, adventures in the stunning National Park of Cappadocia, tours of the classical site of Ephesus or the historic Gallipoli Peninsula on the Aegean.

WHERE YOU’LL STAY

The super-stylish Dionysos Estate is wrapped around a canyon with stunning sea views over the unspoilt bay of Kumlbuk. There is an impressive array of facilities, but the focal point is undoubtedly the enormous infinity pool. There is also a Decelor and Elemis spa with open-air hot tubs, a gym, mountain bikes, yoga classes, a tennis court, golf net and artificial putting green.

FUN FOR KIDS, HEAVEN FOR FOODIES

The estate opens its doors to families throughout the school holidays, and organises guided walks and fun children’s visits to the hotel’s organic farm where they can help tend to animals, watch the milking and pick fruit and vegetables. During October, families can help bring in the olive harvest, and see the hotel’s extra virgin olive oil being bottled.

A private sandy beach club with gentling shelving waters offers safe swimming, and a range of watersports, including canoes and sea bikes, water-skiing, windsurfing and kayaking, as well as petanque. The hotel has three restaurants, which all use organic fruit, vegetables and herbs grown on the estate; olive oil and wine are also produced.

Indulge Your Senses on a Summer Break in the Mountains

If you are looking for a truly unique experience this summer, head to the sixth annual Culinary Jakobsweg in Ischgl, Austria! This year the UK’s own Russell Brown will be joining the ranks of elite chefs at the festival.

The Culinary Jakobsweg is a brilliant concept thought up by Austrian Chef of the Century Eckart Witzigmann. The idea is formed around four Alpine Association huts, four international star chefs and four lovely walks in Galtür, Ischgl, Kappl and See. Each chef has designed a unique menu around seasonal, local produce, which include dishes to satisfy hungry hikers and bikers.

Russell Brown, who owns the exclusive restaurant Sienna in Dorchester, will be devising dishes with an emphasis on regional produce and simplicity. He assumes sponsorship for the Jamtalhütte mountain lodge above Galtür with his recipe for cheek of beef braised in beer and onions with whipped potatoes and onions four ways – pickled shallot rings, fried onions, spring onion and sweet onion purée.

In addition to Russell, the three other international guest chefs for summer 2014 are Alfio Ghezzi from Italy; Dieter Müller from Germany; and Giovani Oosters of Belgium.

THE LOWDOWN

The dishes will be on the summer menu of each mountain lodge until 21 September. On opening day at the beginning of July, the four guest chefs will hike with holidaymakers up to the Heidelbergerhütte above Ischgl, where they will prepare and serve their dishes to visitors.

Special accommodation packages are available in the four Paznaun villages of Ischgl, Galtür, Kappl and See for the summer season, which runs from 6 July to 21 September.

Price: Three nights’ accommodation with breakfast and including the Silvretta Card – which allows free or discounted use of facilities and activities – is from £62 per person.

Dublin by Bicycle

Bikes in Dublin

The Merrion has created a package for families to take in the city’s sights by bicycle. Wheel past historic buildings and picnic in the park.

Item 1 Title

Why go? Like so many of Europe’s great cities, Dublin is best seen on foot. But with little ones in tow this might seem like a arduous task, punctuated by ‘carry mes’ and ‘I’m tireds’. With this in mind, The Merrion hotel has redesigned the way its guests see Ireland’s capital this summer, offering tailor-made bicycle tours.

Accommodation: The hotel is right in the centre of Dublin, next to the National Gallery and Natural History Museum and despite being a member of the Leading Hotels of the World, is extremely welcoming to kids. It offers babysitting, cots, extra beds and special bite-sized bathrobes.

Food: There are children’s menus in the restaurants, as well as for room service – which come on Miss and Master Merrion crockery – and the more discerning kid can delve into the colourful mocktail list at the bar. For you, there’s a spa, swimming pool and handsome Cellar Bar, where you can have dinner and congratulate yourself on a good day’s cycling.

Item 2 Title

Explore the town: Pedal merrily through the old town, past Dublin Castle and Trinity College, then along the Grand Canal Cycleway, stopping to feed the ducks and eat your homemade picnic on St Stephen’s Green.

Item 3 Title

Getting there: British Airways flies from London Heathrow to Dublin from £101 return.

Price: The Merrion’s Dublin by Bicycle package costs from €620 a night for a family of four sharing an interconnecting Superior King and Superior Twin room on a B&B basis, and including the use of two adult and two children’s bicycles (with helmets, tote bags, rain macs and a picnic), and a two hour private Dublin City Bike Tour.
